A Note About On-Screen Navigation ButtonsFirst up, you should know that this app only works right if you have on-screen navigation buttons, so this isn't for devices that have hardware or capacitive keys. Step 1: Open Up the Spot Correction ToolTake a look at my selfie. Not bad, right? Well, except for my skin. Like many of you, I suffer from the occasional zit from time to time, but I am not going to let that ruin my selfie game.The first thing we are going to do is get rid of all the blemishes. Open PS Express, and select the selfie you want to edit. Then, scroll through the bottom toolbar and tap on the bandage or double-bandage icon â€” this is your spot correction tool.The slider that appears in the toolbar is used to determine the size of your spot correction area. You can zoom in on your photo by using the pinch gesture, which will help you isolate the blemish, so nothing else gets inadvertently "corrected."

Step 2: Zoom In & Zap Those ImperfectionsZoom into your photo so that all the imperfection in your skin can be seen more clearly. Select only one area to focus on at a time, then adjust your slider so that the brush is only slightly bigger than the blemish you are correcting. Next, tap on the defect and watch it disappear.If you did not get the result you wanted, tap the undo button at the top of your screen and try again, adjusting your brush as needed. It's completely normal to use the back button several times and try your spot corrections again. It's a tricky process in some images.Repeat the process for any other areas you would like to correct. It may take some time to get all of them, but it'll be worth it. Zoom in and out frequently so you can see how the whole image is turning out. Be careful not to tap the areas close to your features, such as your eyes or nose. The spot corrector brush will blend incorrectly if the area it's correcting is inconsistent. You can make your brush smaller to get those areas close to one of your facial features if needed.

Step 3: Soften Your Skin TextureNext, in the toolbar, tap your adjustments panel, the two or three sliders icon. Scroll over to "Reduce Luminescence Noise" and "Reduce Color Noise." Select one, increase the slider, then repeat for the other to soften the look of your skin. You should increase these until any part of the background starts looking blurry. In some pictures, that never happens, so it's OK to increase both sliders to max. After you finish, you can head back to the spot corrector if needed. Also, don't be afraid to play with a few other adjustments â€” my personal favorites are lighting adjustments, filters, and split tones.To check your edits, tap the before-and-after tool up top, the one that looks like a square chopped in half. This will toggle between your original image and your edited image. It's an excellent way to see all that you've accomplished, as well as help you determine if more adjustments are necessary. Don't forget to save your image after you're done with all of your adjustments, so you don't lose any edits. Buried deep in the code of many Google apps is a set of debugging options. These options, which are designed for developers to help test the way their apps interact with Google's own, are normally hidden from view.Every now and then, new and upcoming features are hidden in here before they're made available to the general public, much like the recent "Okay, Google" on any screen feature.Developer Greg Willard found a way to activate these hidden menus, and he created an app that lets rooted users activate them on their own devices at the press of a button. Just make sure your Google apps are up to date, and you can be digging around in these secret menus in five minutes. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Install #DebugAllTheThingsWillard is a developer, not a marketer. So he named his app #DebugAllTheThings with his tongue planted firmly in cheek. Yes, that is indeed a hashtag mixed with a Reddit catchphrase.To get the app installed, search #DebugAllTheThings on your Play Store app. Or, if you'd rather not attempt to cram all of those characters together, you can head to this link to jump directly to the install page.

Step 2: Install the SQLite BinariesWhen you first launch #DATT, you'll be asked to install the SQLite binaries. Tap the Yes, take me there button, and you'll be taken to the Play Store page for an app that can install the binaries for you. Go ahead and install SQLite Installer for Root and open it up. From there, tap the Install button at the top of the list, then hit the Go button on the next screen. At this point, the the SQLite installer app will ask for Superuser privileges, so Grant it those. When the process is finished, the log on the screen will read "sqlite should now be installed."

Step 3: Enable the Debug MenusWith the SQLite binaries installed, #DATT can now work its magic. Head into the app and tap the Enable button next to any of the apps that you'd like to have debug options for. At this point, #DATT will ask for root permission, so hit Grant on the pop-up. No reboot is required, but you may have to restart the apps that you've enabled debug options for. Do that by swiping them away from your recents menu. When you open them back up, you'll find the hidden menus enabled. As I said, there's not much for the end user in these debugging menus, but have a look around nonetheless. That's a lot of permissions to hand off, especially if the computer's not your main laptop or desktop.There are quite a few reasons why you'd want to untrust a computer. Maybe you had a friend load up your iPhone with some cool ringtones they created in iTunes. Perhaps you trusted a computer by mistake because you just wanted a quick charge. Or, maybe it was a public computer that you used Image Capture on. Either way, if it's not your primary computer, you should untrust it in case somebody ever gets a hold of your iPhone and has access to the trusted computer.Don't Miss: Keep Data-Thieving USB Accessories Away from Your iPhone Also, there's "trustjacking." Once you've authorized a computer access to your iPhone â€” even if the "computer" just looks like a normal charging station you'd find out in public areas â€” your iPhone can then be attacked while connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer, leading hackers to install malware, spy on your usage, take backups of your photos and call logs, and perform just about anything else you can think of.
Un-Trusting Devices Your iPhone Has TrustedUntrusting a computer isn't hard, even though you aren't able to pick and choose which computers to untrust â€” you have to disengage from all of them all at once.There are three options for untrusting computers, listed here in order of least annoying to most annoying. For example, Option 1 won't be too disruptive for you, but Option 2 will require more work to get your iPhone back to its previous state. And with Option 3, you'll need to set up your iPhone all over again. Each of these has positive aspects, side effects that you may find beneficial, so be sure to read through to the end to see which of these is right for you.

Option 1: Reset Network SettingsThis is by far the least intrusive way to untrust a computer. By performing this method, all you'll really need to do is re-enter the credentials for Wi-Fi networks you commonly connect to. It's also beneficial since your iPhone will no longer connect to the myriad of unsecured public networks you potentially accrued along the way. However, this will also reset cellular settings and VPN settings.Don't Miss: Instantly Share Wi-Fi Passwords from iOS Device to iOS Device First, open up your Settings app, then go to "General." From there, tap "Reset," then "Reset Network Settings." You'll need to enter your passcode before you're able to reset your settings. After you do, tap "Reset Network Settings" on the confirmation prompt, and your device should restart. You should immediately go to your Wi-Fi settings after this, as you'll be logged out of any network you're currently connected to.If you customized certain aspects in the "Cellular" section in Settings or had a VPN configuration set up, you'll need to redo those as well.

Option 2: Reset Location & Privacy SettingsResetting "Location & Privacy" settings is a more intrusive way to untrust a computer. What this option does is reset all the permissions you've granted other apps. This includes location, camera, photo, contacts ... everything. If you have some apps that you regret giving certain permissions to, this could be a good catch-all to bring everything back to center.The process to do this is nearly identical to the one above. Instead of tapping "Reset Network Settings," though, hit "Reset Location & Privacy." You'll need to enter your passcode again and select "Reset Settings" after you do so to complete the process. Your device may or may not restart. Every time you open an app, though, you'll need to re-grant it permissions that you previously gave it before (or choose not to grant it if that's the case). It can be kind of annoying, so go with Option 1 if you're unsure if you want the hassle of all this.

Option 3: Restore to Factory SettingsRestoring your iPhone to factory settings is the most damaging of these options. It'll completely wipe your iPhone of your contacts, photos, files, apps, and everything else. Before you choose the option from the "Reset" menu â€” titled "Erase All Contents and Settings" â€” your iPhone will prompt you to back up everything on iCloud so you're able to restore it later.While this option will do the trick, I wouldn't suggest it unless you were planning on resetting your iPhone to factory settings regardless. It's just too much work to get your iPhone back up to snuff, minus trusted computers. When it comes down to it, whichever method you choose to untrust computers really comes down to each one's side effects. If you don't want to lose any of your saved connections, you might want to skip Option 1 in favor of Option 2, and just deal with reaccepting permissions for your apps. If you need to clean out your iPhone anyway, you might as well go with Option 3.It would be nice if Apple allowed us to manually untrust computers rather than go through one of these three roundabout methods. Rooting, bootloaders, custom ROMs, CyanogenMod, ClockworkMod... it's all pretty confusing, isn't it? You're not the only one having trouble with this. Many users in the Nexus 7 SoftModder forum have been scratching their heads at these many terms.First, let's cover the terms, so we can get that out of the way.
The Most Frequently Used Terms You NEED to Knowbootloader: A bootloader is what tells your Nexus 7 what things to load when you first turn it on. Think of it as a set of instructions for what switches to be switched on and in what order. Unlocking bootloader: Unlocking a bootloader is allowing your Nexus 7 to load or switch on whatever it wants when it boots up. Bootloaders come locked out of the box to prevent unwanted tinkering; unlocking it will allow for custom ROMs on your Nexus 7. Rooting: Rooting is gaining access to parts of Android you normally not allowed in. Think of it as kicking down doors at the office that say "Restricted: VIPs Only". Once rooted, your Nexus 7 can run cool and innovative apps that require all doors to be opened to work. Custom recovery: Used to install custom ROMs on your Nexus 7. It's also used as an option to restore your device to stock when things go awry. It's the most used tool in custom ROMs. Popular custom recoveries are ClockworkMod (CWM) and Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) which uses a touch-only interface to install ROMs, making it a super easy process. Flashing: Flashing is simply the process of installing a custom ROM (or even a stock ROM) onto your device. Whew! Okay, now you know that basic terms. Great!
Breaking Free of Your Stock Android SystemSo, now how can you finally break free from your stock Android OS on your Nexus 7 and explore the ultimate customization options available?The rest of this article will cover how to get the most out of your Nexus 7 tablet and guide you through the process of prepping your Nexus 7 for custom ROMs using a Windows computer. Adding a custom ROM onto your Nexus 7 will increased speed, give you better performance, and more. So, let's begin!

Step 1: Enable USB DebuggingBegin by enabling "USB debugging" on your Nexus 7. This is the most important step because the toolkit will automate everything for you. Enable "USB debugging" by going to Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging. Note: If there is no "Developer Options" shown in "Settings" menu, you can unhide it by going to Settings -> About Tablet -> Build Number and tapping on that 7 times to unlock it. This is something Google started implementing in Jelly Bean 4.2 and higher.Once enabled, plug your Nexus 7 into your computer using the USB cable that came with your tablet. Don't remove the USB cable from your Nexus 7 unless the toolkit tells you to do so later.

Step 2: Toolkit Time!On your PC, begin by downloading the Nexus 7 Root Toolkit. Install the toolkit by clicking "Next" through the various prompts.Once the installation is complete, go ahead and run the toolkit. A window will pop up asking for your device model. Choose your device from the list along with its OS version and click "Apply". Head over to "Initial Setup" and click "Full Driver Installation..." Follow the guide provided in the toolkit to install the required drivers for your Nexus 7. I recommend "Driver Solution #3", but any of the three options should work. The toolkit has a built-in guide with pictures that will aid you in installing the drivers. Now with the drivers installed, make sure they're working by testing them over in the "Step 3" tab. The toolkit will verify if the drivers are properly installed and working.

Step 3: Unlocking the BootloaderClick on "Unlock" to unlock the bootloader. Everything will be automated, so just follow its lead. THIS DELETES EVERYTHING ON YOUR NEXUS 7â€”back up everything important.

Step 4: Rooting and Custom RecoveryWith the bootloader unlocked, head over to "Root" to root your tablet. Check the option for "Custom Recovery" to have TWRP installed. Then click "Root" to begin the process.

Step 5: Custom ROMsUsing a web browser on your PC, download the custom ROM you want to use. As an example, I will be installing the CyanogenMod ROM, but the process is the same for any custom ROM of your choosing. The latest version of CyanogenMod for the Nexus 7 can be downloaded from this page.CyanogenMod also requires Google Apps (GApps), so grab the latest version here.Now, let's head back over to the toolkit. With the toolkit opened up on your PC, click the button for "Launch" in Advanced Utilities. A very large list will pop up, but what you want to focus on is the section called "Flash Zips". Choose the option for "File is on this computer" and press "Flash zip...". A new window will open for flashing ROMs. Add the two zips files you downloaded earlier by clicking "Add zip's to flash...". CyanogenMod should be selected first, followed by GApps, so they flash in that order. With the files added, go over to "Wipe selected partitions..." and check the boxes for "Enable" including the boxes for "Data", "Cache" and "Dalvik".This ensures your old OS will be deleted before installing the new custom ROM. Click "Confirm operation" to begin flashing. Just sit back and let the toolkit automate the flashing process for you. Once complete, your Nexus 7 will boot up into the new custom ROM that was installed! You can now unplug the USB cable if you want.Here is CyanogenMod booted up for the very first time.
